All of our breeding dogs have had their hips evaluated either by OFA, PennHip, or by the country of their origion, to have hip ratings that are either OFA Excellent or OFA Good, or equivalent to that in evaluative rating in their country of origin.
We offer a three-year guarantee against hip and elbow dysplasia, and a two year guarantee against genetically caused diseases. Check out our Health Guarantee and Awards page. Compare our awards and guarantees to other guarantees and awards out there. We could not offer these guarantees and awards if our dogs were not of the highest quality.
You are welcome to come to our home to visit. We will gladly supply you with references if you request them.
Call us a little ahead of time so we can put on the coffee or tea kettle for you!
Our puppies are raised with the expectation of being work performance dogs, imprinted with motivation in play and prey drive, and life experiences.

Samuel and his family had put a deposit on a sable female and came once or twice a week to play with the pups until they took their puppy Worthy's Enchanting Denali home to be a part of their wonderful family. Although we live well within Anchorage city limits, we also live very close to the Chugach State Park, which has 495,000 acres of forests, lakes, mountains and valleys are at Anchorage's doorstep.
There are bears, wolves, moose, mountain goats, foxes, lynx, etc that live in the natural beauty of the park. The Hillside area, where we live, sometimes has bears that make a regular habit of perusing the neighborhood, checking for goodies to eat.
On June 2, 2007, I took Worthy's Arwin out the front door to do her business. She gave a little bark, a serious growl, puffed out her chest and trotted down the front steps towards the front yard area with an attitude--- to apparently kick an intruder's butt out of our yard. I looked over to where she was headed, and I saw a 600 pound brown bear, about the size of a large welsh pony. Thank God Arwin has a super recall! I got my camera, with just the regular lens on it, darn it, and I came with 40 feet of the bear to take pictures. After he'd had enough of his picture being taken, he looked at me, snorted, and ran off.
My husband says that if I am going to do a Tim Treadwell on him, then he's going to double my life insurance policy! (Tim Treadwell was a bold grizzly bear researcher who was killed and eaten, along with his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, by grizzly bears in Katmai National Park, Alaska. Mr. Treadwell is a controversial subject in Alaska. Though somewhat revered elsewhere, many Alaskans feel Mr. Treadwell did not follow accepted scientific nor reasonably cautious methods.)
We welcome any questions concerning vacationing in Alaska, about Alaska,--the "Final Frontier" or even questions about moving here.

Welcome to Worthy Kennels.

We have world renowned bloodlines through imported European working-line breeding stock, most of whom are work titled. We try to live up to our "Worthy" name by producing the best working GSD puppies available, pups which come with our 3 year hip and elbow guarantees, and a two year general health guarantee.
In 2007 we went to Europe in person to select some of the best working line German Shepherds available in the world for our breeding program. Several of our dogs are daughters, a son, or a litter brother or sister of world famous working dog sires and/or competitors noted for their ability to work and produce excellent offspring.
Below are some of the sires of our breeding dogs:

Whether you are looking for a puppy to be a prospective: protective family companion, Police candidate, top Schutzhund sports competitor, obedience, agility, or a Search and Rescue dog, please contact us. We are also reasonably priced on our puppies, often more so than kennels whose dogs are of lesser quality and whose pups do not come with guarantees that are as comprehensive as our health guarantees are.
The dogs, the kennels, and all of my litters are my full time job. The puppies are very well socialized by myself, my family, my daughter and her friends. The puppies are tested many times from the age of about three weeks until the leave for their new homes. Puppies are born in the house and kept there until the age of three weeks when they are often moved out to a heated dog barn that have doggie doors that lead out to large outdoor runs. While living in the house, they become accustomed to the sounds of the washer and dryer, vaccum cleaner, television, music, family life in general, and our constant visits to play with them.

We are members of Schutzhund USA, and we have a registered kennel name through them. We are also members of the Alaska Schutzhund Club located in Anchorage. You can see a picture of most of us right after the 2007 trial with Judge Nikki Banfield on our "More Alaska Pictures" page. Worthy Kennels is a contributor to the Alaska German Shepherd Rescue Group (see our links page).
I am currently training with Worthy's Arwin, my three year old female from my own A litter, and Worthy's Fenja, 15 months of age, from my F litter, with the Alaska Schutzhund Club. Thanks to the great support from our club and my husband, Arwin and I earned our BH last Summer. Our 12 year old daughter Autumn is working with Effi vom Banholz, SchH1. Eric is in-between dogs.
We have purchased a handsome and very masculine looking stud dog, an internationally name-recognized Schutzhund competitor--- SG Athos vom haus Sevens SchH3, GHP3, KKL1---- Belgium Regional Champion (twice), placed third in the Belgium National Championship trials (VVDH Kampioenschap). Athos has also placed very high in several WUSV qualifying trials, and other International Schutzhund trials. Thank you Johan Vangerven and Johan Clauwert of Vom Haus Jadevin, Belgium for allowing us to purchase Athos.
We searched for almost a year to find a dog like Athos who has all the characteristics of what we (and most people) think of as the ideal German Shepherd-- good with children, intelligent, easy to train, social towards other dogs, protective of home and family while having good common sense, and yet also a high level International Schutzhund competitor and champion.
Anchorage, Alaska is an International destination, with direct flights to many places in the USA and Canada, and even the world. It may cost much less than what you may imagine to send a super puppy to you. Shipping costs to anywhere in the USA and much of Canada. Shipping of an 8 week old puppy to the East Coast is about $125, and shipping to the West Coast about $225. Anything in between falls somewhere between those two prices. Shipping to almost anywhere in Alaska is about $125.
