Born:  March 2005--- Worthy's Arwin was chosen by us from our first litter, the "A" which was
imported in utero from Germany, and is my current training prospect for Schutzhund.  We got
our BH in September.  I thought we would have had our SchH1 this year, but I hurt myself badly
in April, before the snows melted off, and it will be a long while before I train again.

Arwin has full strong bites and surprises helpers with her power in a medium sized body.  In
obedience, she is eager to please and yet can take a hard correction in stride.  She is a
fantastic tracker.  She caps her drive extremely well.  She has tons of fight and civil drive, as
well as very high prey drive that she can cap wonderfully.  I expected to get her SchH1 title this
year, but I broke my ankle and busted my knee, putting a long halt on active training and titling.

Besides being a great protector and great Schutzhund training buddy, she is also our house dog.
She is very cuddly, loving and loyal. She caps her drives in the house, and loves to cuddle up and
watch TV with me.  She sleeps with me and sometimes with my daughter in our beds.  She has such
a strong pack drive and loyalty, Arwin displays "care-taker" behaviors when I am injured or sick.

You can see my pictures of the bear Arwin was
going to kick out of her yard on

birch beside the house.

Arwin probably saved Autumn's life this May 2008.  Autumn is our 12 year old daughter.
Autumn was putting Arwin outside in her pen early one morning when she walked right up
beside our frequently visiting yard moose who was laying down and sleeping just beside the
pens, about 15 feet away on the other side of the berm there.  This is the same moose who has
charged me with serious intent in January right beside my house.  (I made it to the back door in
time to escape.)

When Autumn walked up beside Ms. Moose, the startled moose leaped to its feet and charged
uphill, over the berm, and towards the fencing, right at  Autumn, who froze-- screaming in fear.

Arwin leaped in front of Autumn to protect her, barking fiercely like a machine gun at the moose,
driving her back away from Autumn, and then chased the moose away from our 12 year old
daughter, down the hill, while Autumn unfroze and escaped to the house.

When called, Arwin left the angry moose, who had quit running to deal with Arwin with her front
feet.  Arwin obediently returned to us at the house.  Without Arwin's intervention, this particular
moose, who has already displayed serious aggressive behavior, may have trampled Autumn.

It is said that more people are killed by moose than bear in Alaska.  They are wild animals with
powerful survival instincts that direct them to attack what seems to be a threat even if it is just a
groggy 12 year old kid taking a dog outside in the early morning.
